About the Potter

My name is Phyllis Busell

Although I have a background in visual art and have been a professional graphic artist my whole adult life, I always wanted to learn to throw pots and to work with clay. One afternoon a friend and I were killing time before a movie, and we stopped into a nearby pottery studio. They were teaching a workshop, and they welcomed me in, a newbie with no experience working with clay. And that was the beginning of my obsession.

All of the wheel-thrown stoneware pieces I make are functional, because I believe functional things should be beautiful.

This pottery has been created using clays and glazes specifically designed for food vessels. They are dishwasher, microwave and oven safe. It is advised to avoid thermal shock by allowing the item to heat up with the oven, rather than placing it in a pre-heated one. Ceramics conduct heat, so use caution when removing from oven or microwave.

I sincerely hope you enjoy your purchase as much as I did creating it!
